Safety Surveillance Systems Field Engineer

A small but growing company operating in a niche and exciting global market is seeking a Safety Surveillance Systems Field Engineer to support our expanding operations. We provide specialist safety surveillance systems to Government and aviation industry clients worldwide.

Role Overview

This is a home-based position with primary responsibility for sites across Scotland, with occasional travel throughout the rest of the UK for training, support, and site cover.

The role requires a technically minded individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build and maintain effective customer relationships.

About the Systems

Our safety systems typically include:

- Radar systems (Magnetron and Solid State, X and S Band)
- High-power imaging systems
- Safety transponder systems
- PC-based systems operating over TCP/IP networks
- WLAN networks operating over distances of approximately 5km

Experience with radar systems up to 650kW (typically 25kW Magnetron systems) would be highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

- Preventative maintenance and reactive call-outs within agreed contractual standards
- Electrical, electronic, mechanical, and IT-based fault finding and repairs
- Electronic component diagnostics and repair (beneficial)
- System support, troubleshooting, and upgrades
- Maintaining strong customer relationships onsite

The average working week is 35 hours. Due to operational requirements, occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

- Background in electrical, electronic, security, or related engineering fields
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Confidence working independently from home
- Excellent customer-facing skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (business mileage reimbursed)

Full system training will be provided to develop specialist knowledge.

Physical & Compliance Requirements

- Comfortable working at heights (fixed, temporary, and natural fixtures)
- Fit enough to perform climbing duties
- Willing to maintain annual revalidation and periodic medical certification
- Must be able to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance
- UK nationals only (due to security requirements)
